Biggest career win came over this Santa Anita oval in the GI Santa Anita Handicap earlier this year. Will be making first start since March 30 when off the board as the favorite in the GI Dubai World Cup. Velazquez and Baffert are both enshrined in the Racing Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Only stakes win came in last year’s Pleasonton Mile. Most recently was a no-threat seventh in the GI Pacific Classic at Del Mar. This will be his third start after more than a year layoff.
He’s won 5-of-7 starts with both losses being runner-up finishes. This will be the first time the 3-year-old faces older horses. He is 3-for-4 at Santa Anita with wins including last year’s GI American Pharoah and this year’s GII San Vicente. Cost $2 million at auction as a yearling. This will be his second start following a six-month layoff.
Won the $20 million Saudi Cup in Riyadh in February. Following a nearly five-month layoff, returned sprinting in the seven-furlong GII Pat O’Brien at Del Mar and finished fourth Aug. 24. His $12.7 million in earnings easily tops the field.
